The hot afternoon wind blew from east to west roaring   

As I sat in the storefront in the corner street wondering

The half-lit cigarette gripped between my fingers yet dangling

As the smoke that engulfed my life and lungs left me wondering

 

The sun slowly started to vanish with a cool breeze adieu

The trees wept with flowers like a pleasant spring morning

And the air slowly filled with your sweet fragrant presence

You stood across the street like an angel in eternal glory

 

I stand in admiration and surprise reminiscing the yesteryears

My inner child came gushing across like a river in love

Traversing through the sands of time in an ocean of happiness

You were my past, denied in the present and unsure of the future

 

I followed you crazily through the city mazes admiring from afar

The memories of our time painted the city walls with colors of joy

I was far yet close to you and close yet millions of miles away

After many a moon my reality was a bit fascinating yet a bit coy

 

I finally gathered up my courage to stand before you in flesh

Like a stammering child I stood there anxious and teary

I stood like a Cheshire cat with a stomach full of butterflies

Cheerful, genial, and exuberantly radiant you made me realize

 

The words slowly started to trickle down my mouth sluggishly

The past was not kind as we were shrouded in a world of storm

In a storm full of rumors', skepticism, and distains aplenty

Though we were far apart, I was always a step closer in heart  

 

From the very existence of time to this momentary perception

I have acknowledged, admired, and adored you from afar

I knew every single cell of my body wanted every single one of yours  

You were my breath, blood, and my very sustenance

 

I let my heart sing your praise and adorned them with words

Words worth their weight in diamonds and gold as I spoke

I spoke about every single detail in your life of the days of past

And how I could only be a diligent audience and not a cast

 

The gloomy dark days of pain had a spark of fiery life

As you stood there realizing what you meant to me

The world here and the worlds unconquered amongst the stars

Like the very universe you stood in front of me in all glory  

 

The time we spend together were short lived yet vivid

The time we spent was no match for the lifetime ahead

I wish I could hold on to you forever and never let go

But we know life and let me stop by saying sorry and yours truly   

 

Ours is a story of what if and what could have been

Our paths travelled in different roads uncertainly

Our lives like a mirage of oasis in the hot barren desert

A mirage that disappeared like the dreams of thirst

 

I would travel through the epochs of time for you

To relive all the glorious moments with you by my side

Hold your hands and walk down the beach till the aisle

As the flowers showered from all directions

 

This is me pouring down my heart and soul for you

The feelings nestled into the farthest corner of dreams

Hoping to one day unearth and shape the rough diamond

For I will always and forever be, YOURS TRULY
