Letter To My Younger Self!
Dear Mikee,
17th
September 2013
“Don’t hold back when the tears trickle down, because they will eventually dry out and you will smile. Smile with a true sense of happiness. The burden of the tears you hold back will outweigh the happiness after you let it run dry.”
If you have this piece of paper in your hand, I want you to run into our hostel room and lock the doors behind you and hold it onto your chest and embrace it. I hope the warmth of my words can comfort you. They say it is always darkest just before dawn and I would like to reiterate that statement for you.
It is hard when the people around you don’t treat you like a human being. It is really hard to be deprived of basic dignity and love. I know you are struggling with the tag of being a liability to the school and being the last in the class. I know you failed your math exam over and over again and had to pass because they decided to show you pity. I know you hate attending so many remedial classes and learning twice as hard to still end up being the last one in the class. I know you thought about slitting your wrist and ending it all last night on the eve of your birthday once and for all. I understand your pain.
I want you to understand that the learning and the knowledge you will gain in your life are not constrained to the four walls of your classroom. You might have struggled with English within those four walls, but you will end up reading hundreds of books and go on to Write your own Novel. You might have struggled to score a single mark in math, but you will write a thesis on Space Law and hold a master’s degree in law from one of the most reputed universities. You will not fail even in a subject during your college days. You will publish so many research papers on different facets of law and travel the country presenting them. You will stand before the High Court and present your case confidently. You will make real friends who care about you and be there by your side through thick and thin.
I want you to understand that
the tough times you are going through right now will make you a kind and
ethical person. You will help people in their struggles through life. You will
stand by people providing them comfort and a shoulder to lean on. You will be a
selfless and righteous person fighting for justice. You will be proud of the
person you have become. They say it is only in darkness does the light get an
opportunity to shine bright. You will shine bright. You will put a smile on the
faces of many people. I can promise you that. I just want to say that “It is
going to be okay, and you will learn to love yourself.” Good Night.
Magnificent ✨✨✨ Great work Anna✨✨
